Healing in the Adirondacks : Medicine and Medical Practice
Label:
At approximately 6:30am, on June 14, 1906, George Lanz was working with an edging machine at Pullman's Mill, Fulton Chain, when a board broke off and impaled him through the chest and arm. Miraculously, he survived despite the board piercing his lung. Lanz saved the offending piece of wood as a souvenir, but it was lost when it was mistaken for firewood and used in the family's fireplace.
