The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African American military aviators in the US Army Air Force. On March 29, 2007, they were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honor bestowed by Congress, in recognition of their "unique military record that inspired revolutionary reform in the Armed Forces."

This is the copy of the medal given to Roland Merritt Brown, Sr.'s family three years after his death.
