Healing in the Adirondacks : Medicine and Medical Practice
Label:
Edward Livingston Trudeau (1848-1915) became a doctor after the death from tuberculosis of his older brother Francis. After contracting the disease himself in 1873, Trudeau arrived in the Adirondacks. His condition improved, and several years later he laid the groundwork for the fresh air cure in the United States by establishing a sanatorium for the treatment of the disease in Saranac Lake.
