Close to Home : Amusements in the Adirondacks
Label:
Quiet evenings at home were often the norm for Adirondack families in the 19th century. Here, twins play with a miniature village while their mother reads and father writes in a ledger. A parlor organ appears at right. Organs and pianos were fixtures in Victorian homes. Children were taught to play and family sing-a-longs were a popular activity.
