Transparent Views : The Adirondacks in Watercolor
Label:
The Adirondack Park has more than 30,000 miles of rivers and streams which have lured anglers--and artists--into the North Country for more than 150 years.

Brooklyn-based artist Hugh Antoine Fisher, also known as Hugo Anton Fisher, painted this view of a fisherman along the Ausable River on a rainy fall day. Fisher rendered his watercolor sometime before moving his family to California about 1881 for the sake of his young son's health. His father and grandfather were also artists, and his own son, Harrison, became a well-known illustrator famous for his portraits of beautiful women known as "Fisher Girls."
