Designed for WWI pilots flying in open cockpits, the bomber jacket was also issued to flight crews in WWII. The lining was orange, to serve as a visible marker to aid rescue if the aviator was shot down. Tuskegee Airman Roland Brown's leather jacket features the painted logo of the US Army Air Force on one shoulder.
