Ceramic hot water bed warmers were called stone pigs, because the cork stoppered end looked like a pig's snout. They were used to keep tuberculosis patients warm as they lay on their cure couches on open air sleeping porches. This pig was made for and sold by the Adirondack Hardware Store in Saranac Lake.
