Adirondack Hermits : Experts in Social Distancing
Label:
Gilman Selleck (1858-1926) learned to love hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors as a teenager growing up in the Western Adirondacks. As an adult, he built two camps, one near Pleasant Lake (Upper Camp) and the other near Gleason's Mill (Lower Camp) in St. Lawrence County. He picked spruce gum, raised ginseng, and made maple syrup, coming out of the woods only to purchase supplies and visit relatives.
