Adirondack Gardens : Cultivating the North Country
Label:
Pergolas, terraces, stone walkways and promenades gave structure and form to the 30-acre gardens at the Fort William Henry Hotel on Lake George. Red geraniums and ivy were paired with more exotic, tropical plants like canna lilies, palms, and cacti, which were overwintered in greenhouses. The pergola pictured at left stood atop the casino. The building was torn down, and in 2002 a new hotel built on the site.
