Adirondack Guideboats : Beauty and Utility in Action
Section:
In Form and Function

Label:
Guideboats are lightweight wooden rowboats. They generally weigh 60 to 70 pounds. They can easily carry several hundred pounds. In fact, a guideboat can carry ten times its own weight!

This postcard from around 1905 shows two hunters returning from a hunt with two bucks in the cockpit of the guideboat. The boat would also be carrying their firearms and other supplies such as food or camping gear.
