Wilderness to Warfront : The Adirondacks and World War II
Label:
This tent was designed for use by the 10th Light Division (Alpine), renamed the 10th Mountain Division, Members of this specialized unit receive intensive training in arctic and mountain warfare. Many Adirondackers, who had been skiing and snowshoeing since childhood, were among the first recruits.

Green on one side and white on the other, the tent was intended for use in both summer and winter conditions, but proved to be a technological failure. Condensation built up in the tent overnight, which in cold weather, froze. When the 10th was deployed overseas, this tent design was tabled.

The 10th Mountain Division is based at Fort Drum, just north of the Adirondack Park.
