Floyd Ferris Lobb's legacy to the sport of fishing was his invention of a fishing spoon, a relatively short, narrow oval with a shallow curve that moves with a fast twirling motion as it is pulled through the water. It was so succcessful in attracting trout that Lobb carefully guarded his design. After his death, the Horrocks-Ibbotson Company from Utica, manufactured the "Old Lobb" using his design, and featured Lobb's photo on the box.
