Transparent Views : The Adirondacks in Watercolor

A talented artist even as a child, Paul Bransom (1885-1979) had a life-long fascination with animals. At thirteen, he became a technical draftsman for the US Patent Office. In 1903, he moved to the New York Evening Journal as a comic strip artist. His gift for animal portraits led to commissions for illustration work, including books such as the Wind in the Willows and Just So Stories.

Bransom had a camp on Canada Lake, near that of fellow artist and illustrator Charles Sarka.
