Transparent Views : The Adirondacks in Watercolor

Artist Don Nice (1932-2019) painted Opalescent II from a raft during a 1985 trip down the upper portion of the Hudson River. Nice spent two weeks, guided by two rangers, trekking from the Hudson's source, Lake Tear of the Clouds, to the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor. He noted that the "water [depicted] is rough…filled with rapids, so we were all dressed in wet suits."
