Adirondack Gardens : Cultivating the North Country
Label:
Vining plants like ivy, grown indoors and out, were popular during the 19th century. Hops and Virginia creeper grow well in the Adirondacks. In summer, these long-lived vines provide shade and in autumn, vivid color. The main lodge at the Adirondack League Club was covered with leaves, serving as a backdrop to the hydrangea flowering at left.
