Transparent Views : The Adirondacks in Watercolor
Label:
An artist known only as "L.L.S." painted this view of the road from Coreys, about 12 miles southwest of Saranac Lake, to Spectacle Ponds, better known as Stony Creek Ponds. He or she may have stayed at the nearby Rustic Lodge, built by Jesse Corey in the 1850s. By 1876, most boat traffic into and out of the heart of the Adirondacks passed through Coreys and over nearby Indian Carry.
