This view by Samuel Colman, Jr. (1832-1920) depicts mountains Wright, Algonquin, Wallface, Street, and Nye from Scott's Clearing in the High Peaks region.

Colman was a talented painter, printmaker, interior designer, and writer. In the years following the American Civil War (1861-1865), watercolor paintings became more popular with collectors. Colman was one of the founders of the American Watercolor Society, serving as its first president. Later in life he engaged in a variety of pursuits, including interior design and collecting Asian art.
