Nancy Douglas Bowditch (1890-1979) was the daughter of painter George deForest Brush and sculptor and inventor Mary Taylor Brush. Nancy inherited their artistic inclinations, becoming a writer, painter, illustrator, and costume designer for the theater.

Bowditch, a staunch supporter of the Baha'i faith, was a member of Putnam Camp, a seasonal camp in St. Huberts founded by the Bowditch, James, and Putnam families, all from Boston.
